Huge changes are washing over technology as we approach the second decade of the 21st century - and the industry becomes more ground-breaking every year. Technological changes and communication on the internet will radically affect the direction of our lives in the future; to a vast degree.

The typical IT professional across the UK will also get considerably more than employees on a par in other market sectors. Average remuneration packages are some of the best to be had nationwide. Apparently there's no end in sight for IT sector increases in the UK. The market sector is continuing to expand hugely, and as we have a significant shortage of skilled professionals, it's most unlikely that there'll be any kind of easing off for quite some time to come.

Consider only training paths which grow into commercially acknowledged exams. There are far too many trainers promoting 'in-house' certificates which are worthless in today's commercial market. - Training privacy can be very important to a lot of trainees. Why sacrifice any lift up the ladder, income boosts or accomplishment at work because you're getting trained in a different area. If your boss finds out you're taking steps towards training in a different industry, what are they going to be thinking?

- Raising questions in a class full of students will often make us feel awkward. Surely, at some point, you've avoided asking a question as you were worried it might make you look silly?

- If you occasionally work away from home, you face the added difficulty that days in-centre are now impossible to get to - unfortunately however, the money has already been paid.

Why not just watch and learn with tutors one-to-one in pre-filmed classes, studying them at your convenience - not somebody else's. Whenever you experience difficulties, logon to the 24x7 support facility (that should come with any technical program.) Keep in mind, if you own a notebook PC, study can take place anywhere. Note-taking is gone forever - every lesson is laid out for you already. Any time you want to repeat something, it's all right there. Although this doesn't stop all study problems, it undeniably vastly reduces stress and simplifies things. You've also got less travel, hassle and costs.

Students who consider this area of study are usually quite practically-minded, and don't really enjoy classrooms, and poring through books and manuals. If you're thinking this sounds like you, go for more modern interactive training, where you can learn everything on-screen. Many years of research has consistently verified that getting into our studies physically, is much more conducive to long-term memory.

Courses are now available via DVD-ROM discs, where everything is taught on your PC. Through video streaming, you will be able to see the instructor presenting exactly how something is done, followed by your chance to practice - in an interactive lab. It makes sense to see some examples of the kind of training materials you'll be using before you make your decision. The minimum you should expect would be video tutorials, instructor demo's and interactive audio-visual sections with practice modules.

It's unwise to select online only courseware. Due to the variable nature of connection quality from your average broadband company, you should always obtain disc based courseware (On CD or DVD).
